Dear Park Winters Family,
Happy Summer Solstice! As we embark upon this next half of the year, we want to wish everyone happiness, good health and peace. We built our Summer Solstice Sundial arch several years ago just before our Summerland event. It lines up perfectly with the sun on the first day of summer (aka Summer Solstice) and we adorn it with plants and flowers from our farm to reflect and welcome each new season.
This moment of the year is when there is the most light. We grow some of our favorite fruits and vegetables and it's a great time for all our trees and plants to strengthen with the power of the sun.
Gather & Create Workshop:
Build Your Own Summer Bouquet
Harvest and create your own Summer bouquet from the farm at Park Winters! Start the morning harvesting your own flowers in our farm fields with Rafael Galiano, lead designer and visionary of Park Winters.
Arrange your fresh blooms in our Barn in a "how-to build a field bouquet" class led by Courtney Kett of Dixon Florist. You'll get step by step instructions on how to create your bouquet and she'll share some of her secrets for floral arranging through the seasons. Courtney has been designing floral masterpieces in Yolo County for her whole life. Her family has run Dixon Floral Shop since 1962!
Summer Garden Tours
Wondering what you can you expect on a summer garden tour? Our figs are ripe and ready for picking so you'll most likely get to try one on your tour, and just so you know- they taste like sticky strawberry jam right off the tree! Also, our fountain is exhibiting the prettiest water lilies that are in bloom.
We've limited our garden tours during the summer heat so get your tickets before we sell out! If you're joining us, be sure to wear light, airy clothing and a hat to keep cool. Sunblock wouldn't hurt either!
Making Park Winters Fig Jam
Enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the making of our famous Fig Jam! This video shows the process of creating our favorite product.
We start by picking our mission figs when they're at their peak ripeness (usually around mid-June to early July). Then we add cardamom, ginger and lime and mix it all together. Next, it moves through a processor that removes the skin of the figs and out comes the sweet and succulent jam which we carefully pour into jars and label with our iconic Park Winters Fig Jam sticker. Everything is done right here in our very own country oasis.

A Chat with Farmer Ryan
Q: Hey Ryan! What's going on at the Farm?
Ryan:
We are harvesting lots of fruits and veggies including zucchini squash, onions, cherry tomatoes, fig, and blackberries. Peaches, cucumber and melons are just around the corner so it's a great time to visit us for a farm tour to try some of these delicious crops.
We also just planted pumpkins and a couple more flowers for our Pick Your Own Bouquet experience.
On a Farm Tour you can expect to see a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables and we'll also tour our chicken palace with some new improvements-- like planting 22 bareroot roses near the palace. You'll visit our seed library where we are collecting seeds and growing starters. Finally we'll head to our composting area where you can learn about how we reuse and repurpose to create fertile soil.
You might also enjoy the walk to our farm through our lavender fields which are peaking right now and smell incredible!
Since it's all about the figs right now, we are highlighting our delicious Park Winters Fig Balsamic Vinegar. Add it to your favorite salad dressing or pour it over cheese or even a homemade pizza!
